Depict research

My thoughts on the depict 90 second films

The frozen people- Andrew Jhon Sowerby

This film is about people who were once lost in themselves and trapped in side of their own minds but are 'unfrozen' for a short period of time waiting to be released by us. Throughout this time the narrator is talking about the frozen people saying why they are frozen and how whilst there are images and clips of 'the frozen people' throughout the clip.
What i like about this clip is that it is shot in black and white so it gives the appearance of an old film and the images what they use to portray the 'frozen people' look like they are filmed from the older era which may explain why it is in black and white.

La flamme- Ron Dynes

This film is a vintage romantic comedy with a very high class lady walking on the beach as her what would be her admirer run towards her when in fact he is running away form a burning celluloid.
During this clip i began to admire the use of the camera with the blacked out corners. I also began to like the humorous side of the story with the romantic soft vintage music playing behind it. I also enjoyed the use of the black and white instead of the use of colour to make it feel like it was filmed in the 1930's.

No words- Kike Arroyo
In this film, there is a woman who has locked herself into her bathroom and finds out she is pregnant and also in a abusive relationship. There is no dialogue or music throughout this short clip but all you can hear is her crying.
I think during this film, I liked the visual effects of the lights flashing on and off and the constant same lighting which is quite dark and it links in with the setting and the feelings of the short film. I think that the concept was very simple but effective and the choice of camera shots made the film very effective.
